In addition to writing television and radio scripts, jingles and marketing plans, Roberts also writes poetry. She writes inventive poems for children and adults alike. Her poetry has appeared in Free Verse, Life Underscored, Cross Country Skier Magazine, Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets' Museletter and elsewhere, including the mixed-media show Vision and the Word and children's book Let's Make Faces! (www.RhymeTheRoostBooks.com)
Her public readings include “Spectrum West” (Wisconsin Public Radio), Barnes & Noble Bookstore, Borders Bookstore, Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, Open Air Festival of the Arts, Shakespeare and Others in the Park Performances, and other venues.
In 2007, Roberts' poem, "La Luz," won first place in the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra’s statewide poetry contest. The Green Bay Symphony Orchestra’s Music Alive Composer-In-Residence, world-renowned composer Daniel Kellogg, set Roberts’ poem to music via an orchestral score with choir. In 2008, this new work was performed by the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra with the Dudley Birder Chorale.
Roberts is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, and the Wisconsin Regional Writers' Association, Inc.

When Jeannie Roberts learned this fall that the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra was seeking poems centered around the theme of light, the Chippewa Falls woman immediately decided to enter the contest.
