“Life’s
a great big canvas…throw all the paint on it you can!”
Danny Kaye
At an early age, Roberts was exposed to the beauty of nature and given the opportunity to explore the wonders found outdoors. Roberts’ fondest and most vivid childhood memories are her outdoor and artistic discoveries.
Roberts is a trained artist and arts administrator with a Bachelor of Science degree in broad area art and education and a Master of Arts degree in arts administration.
For over twenty-five years, Roberts has actively exhibited and marketed her art pieces. Her work has evolved in style and technique from her minutely detailed representational and abstract pencil drawings of the 1980’s, to her abstract and pattern-rich acrylic and oil color-field paintings of the 1990’s, to her more representational acrylic and oil paintings of today.
Roberts’ subject matter is typically highly stylized and focuses on the organic forms, shapes, and design elements found outdoors. Her imagery also follows the mystical, ceremonial, and communication symbols created by ancient civilizations, cultures, and religions. Roberts is inspired by twentieth century artists’ Georgia O’Keefe (1887–1986) and Emily Carr (1871–1945).
